The problem here is that users are so inundated with, as you correctly call it, \"flicker, audio, flash crap\" that you want to run an ad blocker. I do. Adblock for Firefox. This doesn\\'t block everything, though as soon as I hit one of those annoying adds, I right click the annoying flickering advert, and block the source as much as possible. eg, http://*.advertyz.com/*, http://*.yieldmanager.com/*, and so on.

Basically, unless they stick to the Google method of *not* using crap adverts, they get blocked. And this is as it should be imho. I would love to see all this crap advertising replaced with quality advertising, so if I can do my part to put these pricks out of business, I am satisfied.

Of course, there will be collateral damage. Webmasters who sign up with ad companies that produce the crap, will take damage, and this too, is good imho. This will increase the pressure for ad companies to clean up their act.

I also run flashblock, because that must be the biggest source of irritating adverts on the net. I suppose that Silverlight is going to challenge that, so come on silverblock, I\\'ll find and install it the very first time I see a Silverlight moving advert.
